Kane Pixels Backrooms Wiki

Backrooms - Pitfalls is a horror short film and tenth video in Kane Pixels' Backrooms series. Taking place after the events of Mar11_90_ARCHIVE.tar and immediately before the events of Report, the film follows a team of Async researchers conducting another expedition into the Backrooms and having the first encounter with the Lifeform.

Plot[]

The video starts with text simply reading "May 6, 1990 - [Documented by Marvin E. Leigh]". The footage then cuts to the perspective of a camera held by said Marvin while he enters a room filled with equipment and hazmat suits. He places the camera on a bench, where it captures two men talking about the upcoming tour while taking off their lab coats. The footage then cuts to all of them with hazmat suits on. Marvin, Mark Blume, and George Levy do a mic check while the camera focuses on a sign on the wall reading "KV31 Ch.3 - (MGDST)".[1]

The three, along with Kim, go toward the Threshold. Marvin briefly points the camera towards a silhouette of a figure overlooking them from an observation window. Just outside the Threshold, the small research facility has been finished. The Footage cuts to the Async members following a tape with arrows leading to a room full of equipment. After they supervise the equipment and fix the tape dispenser, they continue exploring.

The team finds a very unique room with plenty of holes and a door on the other side. Kim thinks that going across would be useless and that the other side would just lead to a dead end, but Mark acts against Kim and decides to go across. He successfully gets to the other side and opens the door. He is extremely amazed of what he sees, and asks Marvin to get the camera across to film it. Marvin balances between the holes as cautiously as possible. The camera glitches, revealing the text "While data could be inferred from these readings. Nobody knew what would actually be found on the other side."[2] Moments later, Marvin loses his balance and falls into one of the pits.

Marvin picks up the camera and tells his concerned team that he is all right. He describes his surroundings as having similar architecture, but with greener wallpaper. His coworkers assure him that they will find a way to get him out of there. Marvin suggests attaching a weight onto the red cable to throw it down the hole, but it is too short, so George goes to fetch a long tether.

While waiting, Marvin hears a loud shout coming from within the new area. He tells his team about the noise, but they have not heard the yelling. Despite his coworkers' wishes, he goes to investigate and hopefully help the person trapped inside. He goes through a very crooked, wrong hallway and crawls through a gap in the floor, revealing a new area under a night sky, with a paved road and suburban houses. Marvin hears the yelling again and starts to wonder if Miller was right about the Null Zones.[3] The rest are still skeptical and think it is too risky, but Marvin insists on finding the missing person.

Marvin goes inside the house the screaming is coming from and finds a blue room with inverted road signs coming out of the carpet. He continues down a hallway on the other side of the room and loses his radio connection. He also hears an interview from when the U.S.A and Cuba opened diplomatic relations in 2015. On the other side of the hallway is a large room with chairs, flattened cardboard boxes, shoes, and a backpack on the floor. He thinks that someone, possibly the person who is yelling, has been living down there, but the rest of the team thinks that is impossible. Marvin then hears the shouting again. He rounds a corner and looks down towards the end of the room not to find a person, but a creature imitating the voice of a human.[4] The creature sees him and the yelling gets horribly distorted. Marvin realizes what he sees, panics, and runs out of the house and all the way back to the hole he fell through. He shouts at his team to send down the tether and they throw it down with a suitcase attached. Marvin climbs back into the hole, and the video ends there.

Notes[]

  1. None of Kim's mic check can be heard.
  2. This could refer to the room of pits and the mysterious door, or more likely, the Threshold and the Backrooms.
  3. Miller likely proposed that things and people from the real world can fall into the Backrooms through Null Zones.
  4. There most likely was a person living there, but they were killed by the creature and it now imitates them.
