Backrooms - Reunion is a horror short film, and is the sixteenth video in Kane Pixels' Backrooms series. The footage takes place only a few weeks after Backrooms - Presentation. The film follows the Async Research Institute once again, who have sent a team to explore a dark area in the Backrooms nearby the room with the pitfalls.

Plot[]

Overlooking a city skyline, a bearded man in a lab coat writes down on a clipboard but then puts it away. He briefly looks over the skyline and walks back. We see the windows of Async's area in the Backrooms open up, the yellow lights revealing a coffee mug with some coordinates, and a logo displaying "MLML", short for the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, which the coordinates point to.

The footage starts with a screen reading "May 25, 1990," it then cuts to Marvin E. Leigh with the camera riding on the passenger side of a small vehicle. Marvin points the camera back to the Threshold area and then to equipment stored on the vehicle, the vehicle then makes a stop at the boarded up doorway. Marvin then gets off the vehicle and chats with another Async member about unloading the equipment. Marvin then goes up close to the doorway, and pushes a piece of plywood to open up the area leading to the pitfalls. More pieces of the plywood are pushed away and a desk area with a computer is setup in front of the doorway, Marvin then goes in front of the doorway to show a small rover on the other side of the doorway.

The footage shown is the camera feed of the rover, making its way through the backrooms in an attempt to find the room with the pitfalls. Meanwhile, Marvin points his camera at a CRT monitor showing the feed of the rover, someone overlooking gives instructions on where to move the rover. Soon after, the rover makes its way to the pitfalls and a team is sent to follow after it, making their way back to the pifalls. Mark jokingly calls the lifeform in the pitfalls "Marvin's friend," after Marvin disagrees with naming the lifeform that, Mark suggest giving it a new name. The team starts examining the area, measuring the holes to put several pieces of wood over them, Marks talks about when to send a team back down the hole.

A series of images are shown in rapid succession of the building process of the walkway across the pitfalls, where it is shown that the hole Marvin fell in is left uncovered. Text appears on screen detailing "Team A" doing the building process in the pitfalls area, which Async calls "Room 14D", and a team with Members Mark Blume, Randall Tachi, and Marvin Leigh conducting an exploration of an area of the Backrooms which Async has named "Room 14C".

We see footage of Mark brandishing a firearm out of a briefcase, Marvin and Mark chat about being at the other end of a gun and then Mark tells the team to turn their flashlights on. The team then heads into Room 14C, which is dark and leads to an area of the Backrooms with white walls. After a while, the team finds what appears to be a map drawn by hand on the walls, they recognize the map as being the previous area they were at. Mark attempts to contact another team, but are too far away to receive a signal, the team then decide to head back. As they walk ahead while chatting, Mark is attacked by a man wearing black, the man manages to grab ahold of the gun. The man holds Mark at gunpoint, and says that he will only ask a few questions. After asking how many people there are, the man notices Marvin's voice, and explains to him that everyone thinks that he's dead. The man asks if his family had a funeral for him, and they answer yes. Mark receives radio contact, and informs the other team of the man, before calling for armed support, after which the man shoots Mark with the gun, later confirmed to be alive, but in critical condition in Damage control Control . Marvin drops the camera, but picks back up and points it towards Mark's body trying to check if Mark is alive.

The footage fades to white then black as distorted static is heard in the background.

Notes[]

  • The shotgun appears to be a Remington 870 outfitted with Magpul brand polymer furniture. This furniture was first made available in 2014.

Theories[]

  • The discrepancy in the shotgun hints that the weapon was somehow taken from the future. The Simpsons video implies that similar retro causal events have begun to occur as a result of Async’s forceful entry into the Backrooms.
