Mark Blume (also known simply as Mark) is a scientist who worked for the Async Research Institute. He is one of the protagonists in Backrooms - Pitfalls and later Backrooms - Reunion.
Biography[]
Mark, together with the three other researchers Marvin, George and Kim, went on an expedition to an unexplored area of the Backrooms. They encountered Room 14D, a room full of pits with a door on the other side. Kim thought that crossing would be redundant, since it could just lead to a dead end, but Mark disregarded her wishes and successfully got to the other side. He opened the door, which emanated a green light, and looked in awe. He urged Marvin to get the camera across, but he ended up falling down one of the holes. Mark went back and tried to throw down the tether, but it was too short, so George went back to get a longer one. After Marvin climbed up, all four went back to meet Anthony Dawkins.
Later, Marvin, Mark, and a new addition to the team, Randall, make their way back to the Pitfalls, and are tasked with exploring and documenting Room 14C, a dark open area. Mark equips a shotgun, and they explore the area, until Mark is attacked by an unknown man in the dark, who wrestles the gun from him and holds the group at gunpoint. Mark is told not to call for backup by the mysterious man, now known to be Peter Tench, yet he calls for backup anyway. Peter panics and shoots Mark in the center region, critically injuring him. Peter then flees into the darkness. Mark survives and then he's put into a wheelchair.
