Nicolas Bolton was one of the many people who went missing by falling into the Backrooms after the Async Research Institute opened the Threshold. He was between 18 and 20 years old and lived in NorthWestern California.
Biography[]
Nicolas Bolton fell into the Backrooms shortly after Async opened the Threshold. He was stranded there until he died as a result of malnutrition around January 31st, 1990. He sat by a wall not too far away from the Threshold. A black mold started overgrowing throughout his entire body. Most parts of his corpse decomposed normally, but some parts remained sustainable. Researchers from Async discovered Nicolas's body and took it to the facility. They could not specify his identity; so he was referred to as a "John Doe".
A medical professional performed an autopsy on Nicolas without knowing where the body came from. After taking a few samples and conducting thorough investigations, the baffled doctor found a mutated strain of hay bacillus was grown inside the corpse, which may be what the bacteria who stalks the Backrooms may be made out of.
