A member of the Async Research Institute named Clyde starts a phone call and gets in contact with Ivan Beck, he tells him about a problem the team is having with Project KV31. The Async Member hears good news from Ivan, but diverts the conversation to the problem, which is another member of Async appearing at the threshold area in the Backrooms. It is revealed that the member is Peter Tench, after Ivan talks, the Async Member asks "this isn't him, is it?"
As the conversation plays out, an upside-down inverted newspaper clipping fades in very slowly, revealing the headline "FIERY WRECK BESIDE VINEYARD LEAVES 1 DEAD." After the fade-in, an inverted black and white photo of a field is shown.
